Dear Javier Ruiz,
We are happy to send our ePSIplatform community members our first general
e-mail with several upcoming exciting events, and of course to introduce
ourselves as the new ePSIplatform team!

What you'll find in this e-mail:

   - The New ePSIplatform Team Says Hello
   - Digital Agenda Assembly and the PSI re-use workshop
   - SharePSI Workshop: removing road blocks for a pan European PSI
market (preparation for the Digital Agenda Assembly)
   - LAPSI conference and workshops
   - Europeana Hackdays (in the run-up to the Digital Agenda Assembly)

*The New ePSIplatform Team Says Hello!*
Last month a new team took over the stewardship of the ePSIplatform.eu. With
this e-mail we would like to introduce ourselves to you. Our team members
are all passionate about PSI re-use and open government data. Some of our
plans for the coming two years you may have already seen on-line (
http://www.epsiplatform.eu/news/news/new_epsi_team_introduced_in_berlin<http://epsiplatform.us2.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=b75eb145050468f62d3403f59&id=75d361c348&e=e6d4ecfe83>),
but the summary of it is:

   - Continuing to bring you all relevant information about PSI developments
   in Europe and elsewhere.
   - Stimulating the network of stakeholders and raising awareness across
Europe, with events (including supporting your events), by making people
more visible on the platform, by reaching out to people and places where the
PSI debate is maybe just starting, and by showcasing good practices from
   around the EU.
   - Creating a PSI score board for EU Members in combination with a
narrative database of stories about the real experiences, obstacles and
opportunities citizens and civil servants encounter, and writing reports on
the current state of the PSI debate, helping to set the scene.

None of this will be possible without you! We are happy to connect, to
learn about your activities and to see how we can strengthen your efforts by
pointing you to others and their initiatives.

We are:

   - Ton Zijlstra, (community steward),
   - Tom Kronenburg, (reports, PSI scoreboard, news)
   - Marc de Vries, (events, legal, reports)
   - Katleen Janssen (reports, legal, geo)
   - Daniel Dietrich (editor, general team member)
   - Antti Poikola (editor, general team member)

Though we all are approachable and happy to hear from you, Ton Zijlstra is
our main point of contact. He is our Community Steward. Find his and all of
our contact details at

*Digital Agenda Assembly with PSI re-use workshop*

The Digital Agenda for
Europe<http://epsiplatform.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b75eb145050468f62d3403f59&id=79844d03d9&e=e6d4ecfe83>
is
the European Union's road map for bringing the benefits of a digital society
and economy to Europe's citizens. But it can only deliver if all
stakeholders are involved in assessing problems and identifying solutions.

This is why the Digital Agenda Assembly takes place in Brussels on June 16
and 17th. There progress on delivery of goals and actions will be assessed,
challenges for implementing the DIgital Agenda will be identified, and
stakeholders mobilized to meet those challenges. A special workshop on PSI
We will be reporting live from the event (follow the #daa11eu and #daa11psi

Registration (participation is free) for this major event is open, and we

*SharePSI workshop "Removing road blocks for a pan European market for PSI
re-use*

As a step in preparing for the Digital Agenda Assembly is the SharePSI
workshop. It will take place in Brussels on May 10 and 11, and the European
Commission is the host. SharePSI is a joined initiative of various
stakeholders to give one of the Big Ideas for implementing the Digital
Agenda more momentum: "Beyond raw data: government data done well"

Read all about this event which will bring coders, practicioners and civil
servants from around Europe together, at http://share-psi.eu. Several
members of the ePSIplatform.eu will be participating.

You can register for this event at

LAPSI is the European thematic network on legal aspects of PSI re-use. This
two day event will be held on May 5 and 6 in Milan, Italy. The program
consists of two main parts: the 2nd LAPSI Primer "How technology may enhance
PSI re-use", and the 1st LAPSI Public Conference "PSI at the Crossroads:
Current Challenges and New Opportunities".

The second day activities will also include presentations of previously
submitted papers on major PSI topics and the first LAPSI Award for the best

*Europeana Hack-Days in four European cities!*

Europeana has a metadata collection of over 16 million cultural heritage
objects, coming from a Europe wide network of cultural heritage
institutions. That meta-data is available through an API to network
partners, which allows them to build new applications on top of the data. In
preparation for the DAA, and to show what can be done with the data and the
API, Europeana is organizing four Hack Days together with their network
partners. The events will take place simultaneously in London, Stockholm,
Poznan and Barcelona, on June 9 and/or 10. Europeana will bring together
coders, application builders and the cultural heritage institutions to build
examples of what can be done re-using the Europeana data. Results will be
shown at the DAA. The program, location and exact dates are currently being
finalized, but we will keep you posted! See
