Hello

The volunteers are mainly recruited via the Rootsweb mailing lists for
Cornwall. Many of them worked on the Cornwall Online Census Project, a
semi-detached part of Free Census. The raw material is provided by the LDS
with the agreement of the Cornish RO. It comes on disc and in return the
OPC organiser provides a copy to the LDS which is used to index their
images, which they are currently uploading. The volunteers transcribe into
spreadsheets using prescribed layouts. These transcripts can be uploaded by
the volunteers as texts, on the OPC web site or their own site. In addition
the data is uploaded to the C-PROP database. The db was created by the
organiser's son-in-law. The organiser is a web designer.

The project is a daughter of the Cornish OPC scheme, which was the original
OPC scheme. As you will have seen, the C-PROP db is not just parish
registers. The agreement with the LDS and CRO was master-minded by another
volunteer, who just happens to be a helper at a Cornish FHC of the LDS.
When the Wiltshire OPC scheme approached them, they said no.

Rgds
