Here is one example of open access cultural data provided by the state and
recognised by Unesco

http://www.linc.tas.gov.au/tasmaniasheritage/popular/convicts

Per Axellson from Umea has just spent a year working with some of those
involved.

There are other examples in Australia and the UK.
