I am unable to attend Rootstech, although Nick Barratt from FreeBMD will be there.

These are some workshops I would have joined otherwise:

http://rootstech.org/schedule/saturday/TD004 Bit too technical for me, but for contacts
http://rootstech.org/schedule/saturday/TU054 Smartphones and gravestones (this one is a bit cheeky in that they get people to work for them, but technically it is interesting)
http://rootstech.org/schedule/saturday/TD035 Genenral Open Source discussion, probably a good place to make contacts with open minded folk
http://rootstech.org/schedule/friday/TD046 Open Source Similar Name finder
http://rootstech.org/schedule/thursday/TD048 same guy Dallan Quass, who may be worth meeting, doing a project on place finders (probably only for US)
http://rootstech.org/schedule/friday/TU033 Social media, probably not looking at the problems of data ownership and migration
http://rootstech.org/schedule/thursday/TU002 lessons and ideas o mass digitisation
http://rootstech.org/schedule/thursday/TU069 similar to above, the 1911 census digitisation challenge. we really want to know how much truth there is in their claims that they perform digitisation black magic that the voluntary sector will never be able to match!
http://rootstech.org/schedule/thursday/TD043 MongoDB, this one only relevant to people working with the Oldweather transcription tool, which uses that database
