Dear Supporter
Thank you everyone who helped to show how controversial and bad the
Digital Economy Act is. We didn’t stop the Bill becoming law: but we
have made politicians understand how unpopular disconnecting people
would be; and shown that it would be a breach of human rights.
There are other ways we have won as well. We have built a movement.
Over 20,000 people wrote letters actions, and are ready to do so
again. People also joined ORG, and their – maybe your – generous
donations mean we will be better equipped to fight this Act, and
future abuses. This is a very serious achievement.
We aren’t about to stop. Tomorrow, we will ask you to email your
candidates, through a new ORG Action tool. These campaigning tools we
are able to afford because ORG is growing. We will quickly be able to
roll out new actions on ACTA (the so-called “Anti-Counterfeiting Trade
Agreement”) negotiations, BBC DRM plans, and the future Data
Protection Directive.
These new tools will hopefully be easier to use and help to share the
campaign actions. We believe they will help ORG build much bigger and
effective campaigns.
The tools are provided by Advocacy Online. We always write to our
supporters when we use a new provider, and personal data is handled by
that new provider, 14 days before we transfer that data into the new
system. That is what we are doing today. If you wish your data to be
kept out of our new system provided by Advocacy Online, or have any
questions about this development, please email us.
Tomorrow you will be invited to use our email action to contact
candidates. In two weeks we will move this list into the new system.
