The Government has crumbled under pressure from music and film
industry lobbyists. It now wants to fast-track into law brutal
sanctions, including blocking, throttling and disconnection.

Initially published in the Digital Britain report, the so-called
technical measures should have been delayed until letter-writing
campaigns and new legitimate services were given a chance to reduce
illicit filesharing.

Similar proposals in France and Sweden made filesharing red-button
political issues after kick-starting mass protests and public
arguments. In order to prevent these sanctions closing off the
internet, we need a similar public response.

=== ACT NOW ====

1. Tweet and post this link to get your friends involved - http://is.gd/2xXwr

2. Write to your MP - Tell them why brutal sanctions won't work. Tell
them copyright is under threat from heavy handed business lobbying and
that clumsy enforcement techniques will further damage trust in not
only copyright but Government as a whole.
